DAISY

PAINTED DAISY, BLACK-EYED SUSAN, SUNFLOWER

The basic construction is much the same for all of these.

Daisies belong to the genus Chrysanthemum. The origins of this genus is lost in antiquity, but there is little doubt that the small, yellow one was a native of China and southern Japan and was the most important of the daisy ancestors. Cultivation is documented as far back as 500 B. C. Twenty-six varieties were listed in a Long Island nursery catalog in the year 1826. Now thousands of varieties exist for all sorts of garden areas.
